Challenge’s popular TV show is definitely one of the hits of the season. The name of the show is “Cash Cab” and the main star is a taxicab where people are surprised by the driver/host and offered the possibility to make some money answering questions. The cab travels around the major cities of the United Kingdom.
The show was created by British producer Adam Wood and is based on a regular looking taxi cab on the outside with the surprise that once people tell the driver their destination, colored lights flash across the taxi's ceiling and driver/host John Moody tells them that they're on a game show.
If the passenger agrees to play the game, the driver asks for the destination and starts the car, meanwhile the passenger is asked a variety of trivia (mostly pop-culture questions) by a producer through an earpiece and instead of a rising fare, the meter shows the growing cash prize passengers win for every question answer correctly. The questions are progressively more difficult and the money given for each one of them ranges from £10 to £500. The game stops either when they reach their destination or when the passenger gets three answers wrong, in which case they get tossed from the cab.
The game is so popular that when the cab stops for a couple of minutes, a crowd is waiting in the corner in order to be the next lucky contestant. Moody, who is a genuine qualified taxi driver, thinks that people are a little 'Cash-Cab' crazy and that the game has to stay legitimate so when they see that a crowd is formed among the taxi, they drive on to another point of the city.
