Local voters at Norfolk Nebraska will soon have the chance to decide whether or not keno, one of the most popular games of chance in the United States, will be allowed in the city. Currently, Norfolk is the only first class city in the state of Nebraska that doesn’t offer keno games.
Recently, the city council finance committee started the procedure of obtaining the public’s opinion about the introduction of the game in town. According to city officials, keno games could bring to the community potential profits of more than 400,000 dollars per year.
In case citizens vote in favor of keno, city authorities have plans to use future proceeds to improve the city’s parks and recreational facilities. The finance committee also approved a motion to contact several companies that provide keno in the state and ask them to send proposals.
“Before deciding if we should put the issue up for special election or place it on a ballot, we will seek the advice of the game provider we choose,” a member of the committee explained. Now, the decision of allowing keno is up to voters.
