A project to install Keno machines at the T.F. Green Airport in the city of Warnick, Rhode Island, is now under study. The plan has raised a big controversy on whether or not airports are suitable to have this kind of games.
The project was developed by the Rhode Island Lottery, arguing that putting keno machines in the airport’s shops and restaurants will help to increase gambling revenue collected by the state. However, the directors of the airport have not yet decided if they will finally accept the idea.
T.F. Green Airport already offers gambling to travelers, since the kiosks established there sell scratch games and Powerball tickets, which are very popular among players. At the moment, Keno can be played in more than 600 locations in Rhode Island, including restaurants and bars.
The final decision is up to the board of directors of the T.F. Green airport and to Mark Brewer, president and chief executive. Patti Goldstein, spokeswoman for the airport, said that Brewer is now on vacation and the corporation members are still collecting data to arrive to the final decision.
